Alison McQuade has been creating and preserving her delicous chutneys since 2005. She first started making jars of chutney as Christmas presents for friends, but was soon encouraged to found McQuade's Chutney with her partner, Jay Marden. Once a small company selling initially through Cowgirl Creamery, McQuade's is now at markets big and small, including Bi-Rite, Cheese Plus, Fallettis, Say Cheese and Rainbow, and is featured on some of the best restaurant and sandwich menus in the city, and beyond.
Alison loves to create rich, complex chutneys utilizing spices and flavours from all corners of the world. She is also an ardent supporter and believer in working with the local community. She particularly enjoys interacting with fantastic producers, farmers and cafe owners around the region, many of whom have become good friends. They help support the seasonality of the McQuade's range, which relies on their amazing fresh produce to make chutneys like Cranberry Mandarin and Persimmon Habanero (both winter specials) or their year round best-seller, Fig 'n Ginger.
